About this activity

North Weald Airfield and Museum is in the village of North Weald and was the main entrance to the former Royal Air Force North Weald fighter base. On your visit you'll see some of the vetran and classic aircrafts too.

The museum has a unique collection of artefacts, photos and prsonal memories as well as aircrafts such as the Spitfire! You can also see the RAF North Weald Memorial which is dedicated to all of those who served.

The museum has a dedicated room to the Battle of Britain and commemorates the 39 aircrew who were killed flying from this base.

The former Station Office is home to an impressive collection of artefacts and photos that tell the story of its people from 1916 to the present day and the story of Obelisk which was erected in 1952 by the people of Norway.

The museum also documents the advent of the new jet age and air shows which have been a popular feature here since 1958!

It's a great day out for anyone wanting to learn more about the local aviation and its history.
