About this activity

Chelmsford Museum is set in the heart of Oaklands Park and you'll delve into thousands of years of Chelmsford's history through collections and hands on activities for the whole family to get involved in.

There are a number of exhibitions that you can explore. The military exhibition is where you'll discover the story of the Essex Regiment and Essex Yeomanry. You'll see uniforms, medals and weapons too. The toys and childhood exhibitions will have you looking through a toy shop window and see toys from the past, see how much they've changed over the years!

You'll uncover the history of Chelmsford through the years and see costumes, wildlife, ceramic and the kitchen where you can see how food has changed! History is brought to life in front of your very eyes.

There is an explorer zone in the museum where childreen can borrow bags, trails and more to help them interact with the museum, and they're free too! You'll get a story bag with a different theme, shapes and colours, trails and activities for the park outside too! Make sure you pick one of these up!

The museum has plenty of activities and events during the holidays too, so make sure you check out the website to see what's happening before you visit.
