Waltham Abbey Gardens is an award-winning site steeped in history and set in the grounds of the old Abbey, founded by King Henry II in 1177. Enjoy a historic stroll around the gardens and take in tehe informational panels to find out more about this historic area.
The abbey has a peaceful rose garden, with plenty of picnic tables and benches for you to sit down and relax and take in the surroudings. If you walk further ahead you'll come across Cornmill Meadows, which is a habitat for a variety of dragon and damselfies.
There's also a hide here too where you can watch some of the birds!
Cornmill Meadows at the gardens has a mosaic of rivers, ditches and pools and are home to lots of wildlife. There's also hay meadows, woodlands and glades too for you to wander through.
Over half of the UK species od dragonflies can be seen here, along with kingfishers too!
The park is a great space to bring soe ball games and a picnic with the family during the Summer months and is ideal if you're a nature lover as there's lots of things to se here.
Waltham Abbey is 5 minutes from the M25 (J26). You can also walk from Waltham Cross station on the Liverpool Street line (15 minute walk).
