Mill Green Mill and Museum is a fascinating place for children and adults. The restored working watermill is on the River Lead and you'll learn all about the ancient craft and see the mill in action, as well as exploring the changing exhibitions.
The mill is part of a 1,000 year hustoring of milling on the site and you'll learn how the wheels and cogs work together to move grain through the mill stones and turn it into flour! As well as the mill itself, head dto the Mill Green Museum which collects and cares for historical objects that display the history of Welwyn Hatfrield borough. The collection spans from milling equipment, tools and everyday objects such as toys and clothing that make up the social history of our lives.
You'll see many objects from industries locally such as a Murphy Radio, Shredded Wheat and British Aerospace. There is also art from famous local artists including George Soper, Cyril Hards and the Heron family.
Head outside and admire the immaculate gardens in the riverside setting. There are flower and herb beds that add colour and help you relax! Wander round and sit and listen to the relaxing sounds of the River Lea!
There are lots of permanent and temporary exhibitions. You can discover the 1,00 years of milling exhibition which features an interactive cog wall and gears that make the mill work. Make sure you check out the website before you visit so you know what events are happening!
