Visit Castle Howard and spend your day exploring the magical woodland paths, a picnic by the lake and admiring all of the colourful flowers and wildlife in the walled garden. There's lots to do for the whole family.
Take a visit to Skelf Island, which is an adventure playground. It's a treetop adventure across the water of the great lake and has a serious of nest structures, connected by rope bridges, slides, nets and much more and it's free with your garden admission ticket.
During the school holidays you may also encounter a faerie-like creature that live in the canopies!
There's are over 1,000 acres of parklands to explore too with lots of woodland walks, lakes ans fountains, there's something around every corner!
The walled garden has pristine borders and the woodland garden has lots of paths that you explore and meander along. The gardens are perfect all year round and each season brings something different.
The knowledgeable and friendly guides are also on hand to share some stories with you as you tour the house at your own pace, exploring the history and admiring the interiors! Discover hidden objects, explore paintings and unover the relatonship of the stories of the women at Caste Howard

A choice of 3 cafes serving homemade food. Includes self- service, at table service and kiosk. Serving snacks through to 2 course meals throughout the day.
To enjoy Castle Howard in all weather please be prepared with suitable footwear.
A wide selection of novelty gifts and souvenirs for children, through to homewares, toiletries, books, plants and local produce.
A paved route in the Stable Courtyard provides access to the cafés, shops, toilets & Ticket Office. A mixture of cut grass and gravel paths in the grounds make them fully accessible. Unfortunately Ray Wood is not suitable for wheelchair users or those with restricted mobility due to uneven terrain.
