About this activity

Scarborough Castle has a fascinating history and panoramic views across the coast of Scarborough. It was one a fortress that has endured attacks from Vikings, Tudors and was present during the Civil War, so there's lots of history to uncover around every corner.

Explore the ruins and follows the curtain wall with many towers and head to the viewing platforms to see the beautiful views. The castle is on 16-acres of headland and is home to all sorts of wildlife, so see what you can find!

You can explore the castle with the audio tour where you'll get to learn lots of facts about the site. The castle is also the only place in Scarborough where you can enjoy the views of both north and south bays and is the perfect place for a day out with the whole family.

In the Master Gunner's House, you'll discover artefacts that span the whole period of the castle's past and you'll see tools and pottery from prehistoric times, including a replicas of the Bronze Age sword that was found on site!

Don't forget to visit the new sculpture too, we are only human! It's an incomplete sculpture that will be adapted and completed by snowfall and provides a great viewpoint for the clifftop wildlife and views!

They also do seasonal events throughout the year, so make sure to check out the website so you know what's happening before you visit.
