Knaresborough Castle has a beautiful setting in a park above the river and viaduct.It was one a stronghold of medieval kings but now you'll be able to walk round and discover the dungeon, ancient graffiti and a special secret tunnels.
Inside the museum, there are tales of local characters including Blind Jack and Guy Fawkes and you'll also see the original Tudor court room where the suspected criminals faced public trials.
In the castle grounds you'll also fin an 18 hole putting green which is available from March to October. Test your aim and try and get a hole in one!
On Sunday afternoons from June to August, you can enjoy listening to bands and musical groups in the surroundings. Bring a picnic with you and relax!
The castle is a fascinating place to visit is you want to discover the history of the area and what life was like for it's royal residents.
You'll be immsersed in the history as you'll be told the tales of some colouful characters.

Follow the brown signs to guide you to the nearest car parks for the castle. Limited pay and display parking is available in Castle Yard car park just outside the castle grounds, and four bays are reserved for visitors with disabilities

You are welcome to picnic everywhere in the grounds except the bowling and putting greens.
There is a small shop selling gifts, souvenirs, postcards and books as well as soft drinks and ice-creams
The castle grounds are accessible for wheelchairs but there is limited access to the historic buildings. The main entrance is accessible and pathways run around the yard.
