The Moors National Park Centre now known as Danby Lodge is in an idyllic spot on the banks of the river Esk. It's a great starting point on your visit to explore more of the mmors, woodlands, farmlands and historic buildings.
Entry to the visitor centre is free, and there's lots going on here! Inside, you'll find a exhibition space which provides an insight into the history and habitats of the North Yorkshire Moors and celebrate the ironstone heritage. Learn about how the iconic landscapews were formed and the animals that live here.
Visit the Inspired by gallery which has work inspired by the moors, plus lots of artisan crafts to purchase! You'll also find a climbing cave too for the kids and a shop selling lots of maps and guides and some pocket money items. They have lots going on during the school holidays too like treasure hunts and creative workshops.
Outside you'll find a adventure play area and a woodland kitchen for you to make a mud pie, great for the little ones! Try your hand at auoits, get lost in the salmon labyrinth and test your wayfinding skills in the Compass Fields.
There's lots of routes to go for a walk too and you may even find some talking sculptures!

Pop in to the independently run Park Life Café and enjoy their delicious menu and great coffee. There's indoor and garden seating, and a takeaway service. It's dog friendly too
