About this activity

Newby Hall Adventure Garden is the perfect opportunity to run around, explore and enjoy some quality time with the family. It's set in the award-winning gardens of Newby Hall and is a great day out for the whole family.

The adventure playground has been thoughtfully designed for children of all ages, from swings for toddlers, climbing frames, bridges, aerial slides and pedalo boats too! There's also a dancing water play area too and an enchanting minature train ride to enjoy.

The train ride runs along the River Ure and you'll get fantastic views of the gardens along th way. The journey takes around 12 minutes and is an additional cost.

Did you know they also have a teddy bear collection? It's housed in a home in the gardens and there are lots of bears on show in various scenes! Bring your own bear with you and look out for the regular teddy bear picnics.

The gardens are also immaculate, and it's a great chance to amble around the paths taking in the sights and smells all year round.

Newby presents endless opportunities for an inspirational educational visit.

Most of the paths within the gardens are shallow pea gravel, though Breedon (compacted) gravel has now been laid from the Ticket Office to the Railway Shop. Both surfaces are easily negotiated by pushchairs, wheelchairs, rollators and walking sticks. A wheelchair map, available in the Ticket Office highlights the steps in the gardens and indicates alternative routes.
