York Minster is a world-famous artistic and architectural masterpiece built between the 1220s and the 1470s and is one of the world's most magnificent cathedrals. Discover the sacred place and explore all of the history it has to offer.
Families and children are encouraged to get hands-on during the visit and there's a variety of activities to help them discover the cathedral's stories and fun facts.
On arrive, make sure to pick up a little explorer backpack which can be borred for free and are filled with gadgets to help young minds. Including binoculars, torch and mirror, compass, coloured pencils and much more.
Head out on the numerous trails tor a chance to explore and will help you find special details about the cathedral too.
Don't forget to check out the undercroft museum too. See the remains of an original Roman barracks through the glass floors or touch the remains uncovered over the centuries, including objects from the Vikings. There's lots of interactive and digital displays too that will help to bring the history to life.
On Saturdays throughout the year, they have discovery tours which leave outside of the chapel and last for around 45 minutes. You'll discover the answers to questions and they're free with your admission too!
