Portobello Beach is located just a few miles from Edinburgh city centre and is a great place to swim and subathe and take a walk, especially during the Summer months! Grab your bucket and spade and head down there!
The beach is award-winning and attracts huge crowds during the good weather periods and is host to lots of events throughout the year such as international volleyball competitions and other sports events.
You'll have lots of options for refreshments too! There's bars and cafes along the promenade, along with shops too if you wanted to purchase a special gift! Don't forget that there's a market nearby too every first Saturday of the month selling local produce and crafts.
The beach offers views across to the north side of the Firth of Forth and out towards Inchkeith Island too. Being close to the city of Edinburgh it gets very popular, and it's interspersed with wooden groynes and directed accessed from a promenade.
Many of the buidings are Georgian or Victorian in character too, and can be easily reached by a number of buses from Edinburgh city centre.
