Thurrock Museum takes you back through thousands of years of history. It's a great place to visit if you wanted to find out more about the area in which you live, or if you're simply passing through!
You'll see more than 250,000 years of Thurrock's past, with over 1,500 objects! They're all in display cases so you can wander through the exhibitions.
You can discover the mammoths from Aveley, the earliest known coins in Thurrock which date back to 75BC, prehistoric flint tools, Roman pottery, Sazon aretefacts, medieval finds and interesting objects all the way to the last century. There's lots to learn and see!
The museum also has lots of events and exhibitions of local history which are organised by the volunteers, make sure to check the website to see what's happening before you visit.
There has been a museum in Grays since the early 1900's and it's a great educational visit to discover objects from thousands of years ago.
