Hockley Woods cover 130 hctares and is the largest remaining area of wild wood which covered Essex after the Ice-Age! There are plenty of woodland paths and trails to explore as you get outside within nature!
The woods contain a variety of trees and species and ancient plants too! If you follow the yelow route, you may even see some bluebells in bloom too! You can explore the woods on foot or on you bike and go exploring - see what wildlife you find too!
If you're looking for a short walk then the Valley Walk may be the right one for you! It's a 1km walk and leads down to the main vallery formed by the River Roach. You'll start at the west of the car park and you'll need to follow the white waymarkers. On your way you'll see wild cherry trees and grey squirrels too!
The boundary walk is a little longer at 5km and is marked by the yellow waymarkers. You'll start beside the play area and continue down the hill with beautiful gardens and woodlands. This walk offers fantastic views towards Rayleigh and Eastwood too!
The main entrance situated next to The Bull Pub, 99 Main Rd Hockley, Essex SS5 4RN.
