About this activity

Heaton Park is a historic area on the edge of Manchester and offers a fun day out for all ages! There are play areas, cafes, bowling greens, golf course and much more to explore. Take a walk through the grounds, but if the weather isn't great then remember to bring your wellies!

The park has two play areas for children and are open during park hours for young visitors. There is also an award-winning 18-hole gold course and pitch and putt which is open daily. The course has hosted a number of tournaments both professional and amateur, so you can practice your golfing skills here!

The park is also a great place to stretch your legs too. Whether you want to run or walk, there are lots of trails you can do. Many of the routes are accessible for those with a disability and for families with pushchairs too, so you don't need to miss out. Fancy a kickabout? There's three football pitches as well so make sure you bring a ball with you! During April - October you can rent out boats and pedalos, so you can glide down the water in the Spring and Summer air!

Did you know that there is also an animal centre? It's set in the old stables and is free! You can meet chickens, goats, pigs, ducks, rabbits and more and even a tortoise! You can spot the cattle in the fields too as they roam with horses and donkeys. The staff are always on hand to answer any of your questions, but petting and feeding the animals is not allowed. The centre is open from 10am - 4pm, so make sure you pop by!

During opening hours, you can visit the museum and take a tram ride on Sundays and on bank holidays, it's a great way to get around the park and explore more! There's lots of school holiday and activities and events too. so make sure you check the website before you visit so you know what's happening where and when.
