Daisy Nook Country Park has 30 hectares of varied landscape, right in the heart of the Medlock Valley! You'll see waterways, lakes, canals, woodlands and beautiful wildflowers meadows in the Spring and Summer time. It's a great place to explore nature and get outside!
For families there's lots to do! There's an adventure play area which is designed for ages 6 - 14 years old, which features a wetland nature area, scrambling boulders, cradle swing and more. See if you can balance on the logs or head to rock hill fort and play hide and seek with a banking slide entrance.
If you need wheelchair access or have a push-chair, then the canal towpath is a great path to enjoy. There are three fishing ponds too, so see if you can catch something!
The park has lots of wildlife too. From great-spotted woodpeckers to owls, foxes and squirrels all in their natural habitat. You may even spot some birds too, so look up and bring some binoculars to do a spot of birdwatching on your visit.
There are footpaths and bridleways for horse riding too which all link to the neighbouring countryside areas if you fancy exploring a bit further a field.
There's a cafe on site too which sells a range of snacks and hot and cold drinks if you fancy a break. Or you can bring your own picnic and set up a spot somewhere! If you wanted more information about the industrial heritage of the area, then head to the Park Bridge Visitor Centre which is just a short walk along the valley.
From Ashton-u-Lyne bypass (A635) take A627 north towards Oldham for approx 1 mile to Newmarket Road (traffic lights). Turn L (west) and follow Newmarket Road for 3/4 mile to junction at sharp L bend. Turn R at bend. Entrance to car park and visitor centre is on R after 50 metres.
