About this activity

The Lowry is a visual and performing arts centre with a diverse range of theatre programmes such as opera, muscials, dance, comedy and more, as well as galleries and exhibitions for the whole family to take a look at! The Lowry offers thousands of free creative opportunities each year to help spark creativity and imagination for the next generation. 

As well as theatre shows and performance, the gallery is open to all and free to enter. The L.S.Lowry exhibition is a permanent display and you'll learn all about the artist's life in Salford and his work. There are over 400 individuals works including photographs, cuttings, catalogues and more and you'll learn all about how he is a key figure to the museum itself. It's FREE entry too!

There are also temporary exhibitions too, so you'll need to check the website before planning your visit so you know what's happening where and when! 

The Lowry has an extensive events calendar, with dramas, plays, dance, muscial theatre and so many more to please all ages! They even have special children and family shows, so make sure you keep an eye on their calendar so you can plan your visit. 

As well as the shows and exhibitions, there are regular workshops throughout the year to unleash children's creativity! They run workshops for ages 2- 5 years called Little Creatives with different activities each week. They last for 45 minutes and are designed for children to have fun. 

For the younger ones, they have Babies Playtime, designed for 0 - 2 years. There will be singing, fun and is a great way for parents to meets other parents and socialise the little ones! The class last for 45 minutes and is a great way to get everyone involved. 

From singing to play, crafting, drawing, shows and more, there is so much on offer at The Lowry that will help develop creativity and inspire imagination for all ages.

The Lowry FAQ’s

Baby changing facilities are directly below the entrance foyer, in both the Ladies and Gents toilets near the cloakroom.

There is a bar, restaurant coffee shop and more that sells snacks, ice-cream, cakes and sandwiches.

Bags and luggage are not allowed in the galleries. Please use our cloakroom facilities to store your belongings – there is a £2 charge per item.

There is a Lowry gift shop on site which sells a number of household items and souvenirs to take away.

The Lowry offers lots of creative learning opportunities for all school ages, with workshops linked to curriculum areas and wellbeing. Each workshop is tailor made to support the class and you can opt for in school workshops or two hours and four workshops. Simply get in touch with them and they'll be happy to support you!

They are fully accessible with step free access, lifts enabling to all floors and accessible toilets throughout.
