About Tandle Hill Country Park

Tandle Hill Country Park is Oldham's oldest country park, and it's 48 hectares of parkland in total! There's a mixture of mature beech, mixed woodland and grasslands to explore, with spectacular views across the Manchester Plain and Pennine Hills. So remember to bring your camera to take some pictures!

Tandle Hill is a designated site of biological importance due to its fungi and bird populations, so keep an eye out for some birds flying overhead. You can even bring some binoculars and do a spot of birdwatching!

The area is mostly-wooded hilly area with a central valley, so if you are wanting to walk around it is suitable for beginners and suitable for young ones too. It's famous for its steep wooded hillsides and is a great place to visit in the Spring and Summer as you can make use of their picnics and playground areas. In Autumn and Winter, and of course if there's snow, you can even bring your sledge as it's an ideal spot for Winter activities.

Make sure to check out the monument too, as you can climb it to see the view over the whole of Greater Manchester!

The park is a great place to do some cycling too, so you can bring your bikes and explore the park quicker and faster!

If you're feeling hungry, then make sure to visit the cafe in the visitor centre for a snack or hot and cold drink. It's open most weekends and school holidays, weather permitting! There's also public toilets here too.

Before you visit, make sure to download a walking guide so you can really make the most of you visit.
