The Chinese Arts Centre in Manchester is the UK's only non-profit art centre that specialises in presenting artists and practices that are informed by East and Southeast Asian cultural backgrounds. It aims to increase the visibility of contemporary art practices through exhibitions, research, public events and more that will inspire creativity in the next generation!
They run a variety of events and exhibitions throughout the year, so it's best to check their website before you visit so you know what's hapenning when are where. Some current and past exhibitions include Practise Till we Meet which explored the condition of migration and the challenges and actions taken to create a life in a new place.
The work on display includes moving images, photgraphs, painting, sculptures and more. All exhibitions can be found in the Community Project Space which creates displays that grow and change throughout.
The events run throughout the year. You can take part in discussions with artists as they share some techniques with you or join in on a series of events and collaborations which feature artist film screenings, performances and conversations. There's something for everyone!
The museum partners with local organisations and artists to deliver lots of activities to enrich the experience of your visit. If you're interested in a group tour then they're available for free for schools, universities and other groups too.
For ages 16-25 they have a contemporary programme for those interested in a career in the sector. They offer free practice-based workshops, talks, trips and more to help develop your skills and work. Get in touch with them if you want to get involved!

Free exhibition tours are available for schools, universities and other community groups.
The building has two levels including the ground floor, and both are accessible via a lift. There is an accessible toilet on the basement floor open to the public that can be accessed via a lift.
