Coggeshall Grange Barn is a13th-century monastic barn and was restored in the 1980s. It's one of Europe's oldest timber framed-buildings and standard as a lasting reminder of the powerful Coggeshall Abbey.
The barn has oak pillars soaring up to the roof and has stoof the test of time, with over 800 years of history. There are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy during the visit as you explore the periods of history and the restoration of the barn.
You'll discover stories and images of how bad the barn was in the mid 1970s and how it was saved. There's also some film footage of the restoration and personal insights into the passion of of the project.
You'll here stories and tales from King Stephen and Queen MAtilda, soldiers during WW2 and more! The barn runs talks too, so make sure you ask the team some questions as they're happy to pass on their knowledge!
