Hollytrees Museum has interactive and hands-on exhibits to help you uncover 300 years of history in the Georgian townhouse, as you are transported back in time!
On your visit you'll be transported back to the days before washing machines ans discover what family life was like for the rich and the pool too. You can try out a dolly peg and dress up as a servant and explore the miniature dolls house too!
See Bernard Mason's fascinating collection of Colchester clocks and learns about the origins of some much loved nursery rhymes like Twinkle Twinkle Litle Star which was written in Colchester!
The building itself is a Georgian House built in 1718 and was home to Charles Gray, it has beautiful surroundings and gardens too, so after your visit why not take a walk and explore a little further a field!
There are a range of collections at the museum including toys, art, costumes and clocks and changing exhibitions. Make sure to keep an eye on the website so you know what exhibitions there are before your visit!
The museum shop contains a wide range of products too which is great for spending your pocket money in!
To reach Colchester by road, exit the A12 at junction 27 and follow the signs to the city centre. Hollytrees Museum is situated just inside Castle Park, within Colchester’s city centre.
