Bourne Mill is set in tranquil grounds next to a millpond and a bubbling stream and is a picturesque watermill with working waterwheel. It was converted into a mill in the 17th century and you'll be able to step backm in time and watch it turn!
The site is just a mile south of Colchester and is a grade 1 listed building that is steeped in history. It's set in tranquil grounds and gives lots of opportunity for family fun! There are ponds, wetlands, woods and more to discover which are bursting with wildlife!
The working waterwheel sits proudly beneath the main floor and you can experience the thrill of starting the wheel and hearing the sounds of the rushing water. Learn all about the individuals that lived and worked at the mill too!
Enjoy a stroll around the grounds and relax in the gardens which bring something new every season! In Spring the pond comes to life with wildlife and make sure to visit the bug hotel too which provides a haven for ladybirds, woodlice and bees too.
