Colchester Castle Museum

Colchester Castle Museum is filled with interactive displays and exhibitions that bring the past to life. You can head out on a tour led by the expert guides where you can take a trip down into the Roman vaults and up onto the castle roof. 

On one of the tours, the guide will take you down through 2,000 years of history to the Roman Vaults. you'll then travel up towards the castle roof for amazing views of the city!

The tours run throughout the day and can be prebooked prior to your arrival! Remember to bring a camera!

There are interactive tablets around the museum with mini games, photos and more which tell the story of the castle and are available to hire for just £1.00 from the reception. 

The building has the largest Norman keep in Europe and some of the most important historical finds in Britain can be found in the castle.

You'll see Celtic coin hoards, Roman statues and mosaics plus much more! They also have a replica Ballista too! 

Did you know you can go to the museum after hours on a private tour? You'll have to crack the clies in their escape experience and it's suitable for all ages too!
