Thorp Perrow is home to one of the UK's finest collection of trees and is a leading centre for raptor conservation! It's a great place to go for a stroll and let the kids let off some steam in the playgrounds.
The arboretum is the most important in the North of England and covers 100 acres in total! It's home to some of the largest and rarest trees in England and offers something for everyone to explore! It changes with the seaons with a range of exciting trails, workshops and events to get involved in too.
Through the Spring, they have an Easter trail, and in the summer there's plenty of fun children's trails too, with family fun days and concerts. Autumn brings Halloween themed events and in Winter, Santa will make his arrival. Check out the website to see what events they have coming up.
The bird of prey and mammal centre holds nearly 100 birds from across the world, including eagles, owls and falcons. You can book your visit to coincide with one of the flying displays too.
There is also a spacious children’s playground which offers the chance for smaller visitors to climb, swing, hide and explore. There’s also a picnic area here, so make sure to bring some food and drinks and enjoy!
From Bedale: follow signposts towards Masham (B6268), ignore signs for Thorp Perrow along Firby Road (also signposted Leisure Centre), and continue for approx 1 mile. Turn left following signs for Snape and the entrance to the Arboretum is approx 1/4 mile on the left.
