About this activity
The Bowes Museum has an outstanding collection of art, fashion and design housed in a French-style museum, with parklands and gardens to explore.
For families, there's lots to do! Enjoy some self-led activities in the galleries, or explore the Modern Makers exhibition. You can also borrow a backpack which helps little ones discover the whole collection. There's nature trails, play park and picnic areas to discover too.
Little ones can enjoy the stay and play activities in the galleries every Thursday and there's regular after-school clubs and and holiday activities too where you can get creative and unleash your imagination.
The Modern Makers exhibition is a permanent display and introduces the next generation of artists, makers and designers. There's a range of objects and textiles and rarely seen items that shows visitors the producted process behind and exhibited object.
They also hold lots of events year round including family days! So make sure to check out the website before you visit so you know what's happening.
