The Llanberis Lake Railway

The Llanberis Lake Railway takes you on a five mile return journey alongside Lake Padarn, right in the heart of Snowdonia. You'll go past the 13th century Dolbadarn Castle, through country parks all whilst giving you stunning views of Snowdon!

The train journey takes around 60 minutes are hauled by one of their vintage steam engines. You'll start at Gilfach Ddu station or at Llanberis station and tickets are sold in the station building and also has a lot of refreshments for you to take for your journey. The engine works hard as it climbs the gradient and you'll have spectacular views all around. The train then arrived at llanberis terminus and you're welcome to explore the high street or visit other attractions whilst you're here like the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the Electric Mountain visit centre. 

After your stop, you'll thenfollow the shore of the lake, never more than a few feet from the waters edge too! You'll have views of the Allt Wen woods and Snowdon in the distance. the woods are home to lots of wildlife too which can be often be seen running besides the train, so keep your eyes peeled! 

You'll have the opportunity to stop for a picnic too in the Summer and you can spot some waterfalls too if it's been a bit rainy! You'll then head on your return journey, although things may look a little different as you'll have new views and will notice something new too. 

The journey is great for anyone wanting to explore the local area, whilst admiring the vast views of Snowdon and surrounding wildlife and scenery.
