About this activity

Conwy Castle is a medieval fortress towering over Conwy for over 700 years! You can walk a complete circuit around the battlements and discover the most magnificent medieval fortresses in the whole of Europe!

The spiral staircases in the towers have been restored so visitors can explore at their leisure. Below the castle you'll have views of the narrow streets of Conwy and in the distance you'll see the mountains at Snowdonia.

Did you know that King Edward and his architect built the castle and its walls in four years?!

The fortress is well preseved and contains the most intact royal aprtments in the whole of Wales. There are eight towers in total that rise above and it's a must visit for the whole family, so make sure to climb the stairs and imagine what the past was like at the castle!

Apart from the absence of the roof, the interior is intact, particularly the Great Hall and King's Apartments. The ring of town walls cover around three wuarters of a mile which encloses the original township of narrow streets.

Follow in the footseteps of the past as most of the walk is open to the public! There's onsite exhibitions within the castle so don't forget to check them out and purchase a guide book too which tell you lots more about the history of the castle.
