Sygun Copper Mine is an exciting underground adventure and brings industrial heritage to life! Enjoy amazing views of Snowdonia National Park and take part in workshops and activities that are suitable for all ages and abilities.
Sygun Copper Mine is just one of the wonders of Wales and is a great example of how precious industrial heritage can be restores and transformed for visitors today. Head out on a self-guided audiovisual tour to explore on food. Head through the winding tunnels, colourful champers and stalagmite formations and copper ore veins which contains traces of gold, silver and lots of other precious metals!
The presentation contain special lighting and sound effects too which give a realistic glimpse into the life of a Victorian copper miner. The underground caverns are around nine degrees, so remember to wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear as it can be a little uneven in places.
There are three levels of workings to explore in total which can be reached via a series of staircases. It'll take around 40 minutes in total, depending on how long you spend on each surface.
On the surface, there's a children's playground too! Panning for Gold workshops, metal detecting and beautiful lakeside walks where you can enjoy the surrounding scenery! It's also a great education environment too for anyone studying geography, history, geology and much more, just get in touch with them to see how they can fit with the national curriculum for you.
