Harlech Castle overlooks the dunes far below and is in a spectacular setting for Edward I castles in North Wales and is a designated World Heritage Site! Explore the history and amazing building work for a great day out.
Harlech was completed in just seven years from ground to battlements and the classic design makes the most nautural defences and has held out through the battles, thanks to the way from the sea. The path of 108 steps rises up the rock face and allowd the defended to be fed and watered by ship!
Imagine what life was like back then as you retrace the steps, as you'll enter by floating footbridge into the castle.
There is an on-site exhibition within the castle and there's a guidebook available to purchase in the visitor centres.
You'll see the rugged peaks of Snowdonia from the castle too, see what you can spot in the distance! Onsite you'll find some light refreshments, gift shop offering a range of products and guidebooks and history at your fingertips.
They welcome school visits for self-led education and there's lots of free learning resoucres and activities to get involved in too.

The castle can be enjoyed from ground level, however the site has multiple towers and wall walks that are accessed via steep, narrow, uneven stairs.
