Portmeirion is located on a private peninsula overlooking Cardigan Bay on the coast of Snowdonia, and there's so much to see and do too! With acres of woodlands, shops, cafes, pathways and coastal coves, it's an adventure just waiting to happen!
The village overlooks coastal scenes and is full of colour! It was originally built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis and is one of the most popular destinations! There are colour-washed building around a central piazza, surrounded by woodlands, shops and award-winning restaurants. Endagered buildings and unwanted objects from across the world were transports and rebuilt here and painted in bright colours.
Out of the village, you can discover the natural landscape of the gardens. The subtropical forest, known as The Gwyllt features large trees, secret gardens, castle and rare flowers. There's over 70 acres of woodlands and 1.9 miles of pathways!
The Dwyryd Esturary at the village if filled with hidden caves, gullies and plants. You can soak up the sun on the coastlines or walk the paths towards the end of the penninsula, there's lots to do!
Your visit would not be complete without seeing the Amis Reunis, the famous stone boat! It was used as a houseboat until it was stranded and the remains can be seen during low tide. It's a geat place for children to play pirates and have fun with!
Amongst this, there are resturants, shops a spa and so much to do to keep the whole family occupied and is filled with history in all directions.
