Monkton Nature Reserve is a unique environment for the best of the British countryside to thrive! There's plenty of grasslands, woodelands and ponds that make it a beautiful day out for the whole family.
In total there are 16 acres to enjoy and over 350 species of plants and 25 butterflies that have been recorded too! The reserve is home to the first artificial bat cave constructured in the UK too.
Outdoors, you'll find the quarry trail which goes around the chalk grassland areas of the reserve. You'll spot wildlife along the way such as common lizards, caterpillars and even some grass snakes near the ponds! The woodland trail leads up to and around the woods and overlooks the quarry areas.
Hidde around the quarry pit are nine sculptures, all of which are animals or plants that are found in the reserve. Just pick up a map from reception to help you find them!
There is also a fairy trail too and there's twelve of them hidden around the reserve, they even have their own fairy village too!
