About this activity

Basildon Park is an estate saved from demolition and has been lovingly revived! It features an 18th century Palladian style mansion and a 400 acre park with walks, remains and views over to the house.

The house itself was restored in the 1950s and is filled with fine furnishings and a spectacular staircase and galery! The showrooms on the first floor are open and on the east front you can see the garden room and octagon room.

You'll be able to track the house's decline after the Second World War and how it was recovered over the years! There's also a whole host of objects and art on display too that tells the story of the house.

Outside there are acres to explore and each season brings something different! The ranger team have installed some bathing benches too so you'll be able to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the woods.

There are four marked trails in total and all vary in length and terrain. Take in the viws of the area and woodlands and get the children to explore and play!

You'll also find a wild play area for the little ones next to the stableyard with den building areas too. If you head into the visitor reception the staff will be on hand to help with any queries you have.
