The Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary rescues and provides a home for many types of unwanted animals especially primates. However, theres not just primates, you'll find some African savannah cats, meerkats, wolf dogs, horses and lots more at the sanctuary.
The prime purpose of the sanctuary is to provide a good life for the unwanted animals.
The chimpanzees have been affected by their past experience, but they've show remarkable improvement in their mental and physical conditions since coming to the sanctuary, and you'll get to watch them accept each other and live in harmony. Every time you visit you'll see improvements!
You'll find lots of meerkats here too! Did you know that they don't need water? Despite living in a desert they don't need water in their diets as they get it all from the many insects and bugs they eat!
As well as these you'll find pigs, rabbits, parrots, cats, dogs and lots more to learn all about and their incredible stories and improvements of coming to the sanctuary.
Education is at the heart of the sanctuary and with over 100 species to discover, there's lots to learn! They engage learns from all across Wales, from nursery years to older children for formal and informal learning.
