About this activity

National Botanic Garden of Wales is dedicated to the the research and conservation of biodiversity and sustainability and there's lots to discover for visitors of all ages! They also have a Birds of Prey Centre which is a must visit!

The British Bird of Prey Centre has eagles flying every day! The team have been performing at the garden for years and offer daily flying displays, hands on experiences for all ages. There are 20 native birds of prey including hawks, falcons and buzzards as well as eagles!

They also offer owl and red kite taste sessions meaning you can have the birds fly to your glove! Private experiences take place every morning too and the experience provides a great photo opportunity. 

There are a variety of garden areas too. 

The Apothecary's Hall is packed full of medicinal memorabilia and is really popular with visitors! It's a re-created Edwardian pharamcy where most medicines were made from plant materials, you may also be able to read a real prescription book in Lantin! There's also a magic mirror which offers a look back in time and details short stories about the past.

The Aqualab is where you can explore a treasure chest of natural wonders through lots of activities! Make wonderful creations from plants and learn how to identiy and find out things!

There's also a bee garden which is home to around half a million honey bees and you can see them through the viewing windows. 

The back to nature space consists of wooden roundhouses and woodlands to find inspiration is and is a great space to do some outdoor learning.

Directions

Take the M4 West towards Carmarthen and Pont Abraham services. At the roundabout take the second exit to join the A48 towards Carmarthen. Take the third exit at the Cross Hands roundabout, remaining on the A48. After about 4 miles there is a slip road signposted B4310 to Nantgaredig. Come off here and follow the brown signs to the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
