Afan Forest Park offers a great open space if you're a cycling enthusiast or simply want to meader along some of the waymarked walks set in the backdrop of the beautiful Afan Valley in South Wales!
The park has around 130km of biking trails that range from easy family rides to ones that are catered to more pro cyclists! The Rookie Trail is very family friendly with wide paths and sweeping declines. Theres also a skills area that will help give visitors the opportunity to develop riding skills too. You'll also be able to find some picnic areas along the trail too!
There are six flowing trails from 7km to 40km and even an extremem bike park! It boasts all-weather single tracks and has the most out of any other mountain bike centre in Wales! It's a great chance to build up some confidence, get fit and enjoy the area!
At the heart of the park you'll find the visitors centre which is the starting point for most trails. There's also a bike hire and repairs shop, cafe and South Wales Miners' Museums which a children's adventure play area too! It's the perfect place to stop if you need to take a rest from your day of cycling.
If you don't want to cycle then why not explore on foot?
There are walks ranging from one mile strolls to a ten mile hike! The walks start at the visitors centre and all are way-marked too for ease! It's a great opportunity to see the beautiful area, connect with nature and spot some wildlife along the way too!
Exit M4 at junction 40 onto A4107 towards Cymer and follow the brown and white signs from the roundabout after leaving the motorway.
