Riverside Park in Chester-le-Street has always been popular with residents, as well as attracting visitors from across the region. It's a great opportunity for the whole family to get outside and explore the parks and nearby areas.
The park is home to the Chester-le-Street Bowling club which always welcomes newcomers to the games! They're open to the public throughout the summer months too.
You'll be able to walk along the River Wear, stop for a picnic or head over to the wildlife area to visit the pond and graddlands meadows. See what wildlife you can find and take some pictures!
At the park there is a splash pad that's open throughout the summer months, weather permitting. Bring your swimming gear and run in and out of the fountains to cool off. It gets popular during busy periods so be expected to queue if its busy.
You'll also be able to walk around the beautiful gardens and each area reflect a different star or planet.
The park is open at all times, all year round, so bring the whole family with you and run around and burn off some energy!
Riverside Park is situated just off the A1, close to Durham County Cricket Ground. It's approximately a 15 to 20 minute walk from Chester-le-Street town centre.
