About Locomotion
Locomotion museum is a chance to get up close to incredible engineering feats in Shildon, which was the world's first railway town! There's lots of hands-on activities and things to see on your visit.
In the main hall you can get up close to dozens of locomotives from across the spectrum and railway history. It's home to more than 70 heritage rail vehicles that all tell a story about how the railways have shaped history.
You can also enjoy one of the rail trails and learn about the world's first railway town, it's packed with interesting information along the way. There's are three trails in total, so just print one off before you visit and hike through history!
Outdoors, you'l also find a brand-new play area where children can run around and blow off some steam! There are swings, slides and climbing frames for all ages to enjoy.
They often have temporary exhibitions and events too, so make sure to check out the website before you visit so you know what's happening.
