Hamsterley Forest

There is loads to do at Hamsterley Forest! Take a walk through the trees and along the trails as you get outside in nature with the whole family to enjoy! 

Discover the picturesque woodlands and sheltered valleys as you explore the large forest. You can try and spot the wildlife, watch the stars, get involved in the adventure play and even go mountain biking! 

There's over 2,000 hectares to explore and the walking trails will take you right into the heart of the forest. If you head here in the early mornings, you may even spot some deers, adders and salmon leaping upstream! 

If you venture into the woods, you may even spot some Gruffalos from the popular Julian Donaldson story. Each wooden sculpture has been carved in different positions, so see if you can find them all on your visit. 

The Viking Wildplay has lots of opportunities for kids to explore. There are forts, boats, sticks and more to build your perfect den and plenty of things to climb to burn off some energy! Don't forget to bring a picnic and enjoy some relaxation.
