About Killhope Lead Mining Museum

Killhope Lead Mining Museum is a multi-award winning 19th century mining museum where you can experience the life and worlk of the industry. It's free entry and there's lots to do for the whole family! 

Explore the exhibition halls and accompany one of the guides on a mine tour as you delve into the history. IT's also home to a large collection of spar boxes which are unique works of art made of crystals and minserals found by the lead miners working underground. 

The museum is 450 metres above sea level, so make sure you dress appropriatley and wear suitable footwear!

Explore the dark udnerground for an unforgettable adventure and see what life was like working as a washer boy and the minerals you might find. Explore the machinery, buildings, stunning scenery and browse the extensive collections that all tell a story. 

The underground tours last for around 45 minutes and you'll put on your wellies and hard hat! Make sure to check out the website before you visit as they have changing exhibitions and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
