About this activity

Get ready to step back in time and explore 600 years of history at Lyme!

Nestling on the outskirts of the Peak District, Lyme was actually once home to the Legh family and, in its heyday a great sporting estate!

After all these centuries it's still an incredibly beautiful National Trust property.

Here, you can explore the beautiful Lyme house, complete with its fascinating collection, before stepping out into the 1,400 acres of grounds that are filled with formal gardens, ancient woodland and rugged moors, and even some cheeky deer!

If you want to explore the house in detail (and it's worth it!), take the 45 minute tour around the house where you can learn all the secrets of its history, and see what lies behind hidden cupboards, doors and cabinets, in their exclusive tour with Lyme's experts.

Make sure you book ahead too, so you don't miss out!

Fans of the BBC's "Pride and Prejudice"? Well, this was the location where Mr Darcy's famous lake scene was filmed - just one of the scenes filmed here! A visit to Lyme will really take you back to Jane Austen times!
