Houghton Mill is situated a stunning riverside setting and has an impressive working 18th century watermill to explore, with three floors of traditional machinery and milling demonstrations.
Discover the story of the mill and follow the milling process as you explore the traditional machinery. You'll learn how the mill was one of the most successful in the area, producing flour at an industrial scale!
You can book a guided tour and follow the journey of the grain and watch the cogs and wheels turn. Watch the giant waterwheel turn and the grain pur into the millstones and see the flour falling into the sacks below. You can even buy some to take home with you!
The meadows along the rides are a great way to get out and explore nature. Enjoy the cycling routes too which take you to the city of Cambridge and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife along the way. You might even spot a seal playing in the mill pond!
Every Sunday you can meet the millers where you can watch the traditional demonstrate and experience the sights, sounds and smells.
