About HMS Trincomalee 1817

HMS Trincomalee is the last remaining Royal Navy ship to be built in India, and you can climb aboard! Based in Hartlepool, you'll discover the history of the ship and what it was like to live out at see. 

You'll be able to feel the power of the cannons as they are fired daily and on weekends and have the chance to handled some of the recreated objects that were once used on board. It's a great family adventure and you'll travel back in time to the 18th century and see what like on a seaport was really like. 

Locaed on the quayside is the exhibition and you'll learn about how the ship was build to the restoration in Hartlepool.

You'll also see the figurehead that has been restored to its former glory. They're used to decorate the bows of wooden sailing ships and are carved sculptures, offering good luck and protection the journeys that were made. 

They have lots of events all throughout the year too, so make sure to check out the wesite before you visit so you know what's happening when you arive.
