About this activity

The Judges Lodging will have you stepping into the 1870's as you discover the world of an unusual household! Explore the upstairs, downstairs life of Victorian judges, servants and guests and step back in time at this interesting museum. 

Wander through the private apartments that are lit by oil and gas lamps, sit in the armchairs and even pump water in the kitchen and explore the servants sleeping quarters! You'll be able to be accompanies by an audio tour, and you'll hear all about the grumbling housekeep and stories of the people that worked here. 

In the courtroom, let you imagination run wild as you image what life was life being on trial! The basement cells below are also a must visit. 

Find out about the tragic tale of Mary Morgan and the luxurious lives of the judges and how different lives were back then. 

There's is a hands on policy meaning you can wander the rooms, take in the smells, sights and more of what life was like in the Victorian era. 

For the little ones, there are activity boxes to explore with dressing up clothes, toys and activities and masks too! You'll also get a guidebook which will help you to investigate the rooms. 

There's also plenty of craft activities and trails and events throughout the year so make sure to check out the website before you visit so you know what's happening!

The period rooms of the building are on three floors. For visitors with restricted mobility, access is regrettably to the ground floor only.
