About Manx Electric Railway

You'll pass through scenic wooded Glens, villages and admire the cliff tops and coastal scenery along the way.

The railway was built between 1893- 1899 and connects the capital with the North of the Island. Its the longest narrow gauge electric railways system in the British Isles and still uses original Victorian and Edwardian rolling stock.

The 17 mile journey will take you along scenic stretches. One side you'll have the stunning countryside and the other you'll experience the views out to see!

Trams departs from the Derby Castle at the Onchan end of Douglas Promenade and there's more than 60 official stations and stops on the network, so you can hop off and explore some of the villages and coastal areas!

There are closed and open carriages which are linked together in cooler weather so if it's a nice hot and sunny day, you'll be able to experience the fresh air!

There is a cafe at Lazey Station and and the terminus for some snacks and refreshments and the train departs regularly through March to October.
