Since 1996 Southport Model Railway Village has been attracting model train enthusiasts from all over the world. The attraction has beautiful vistas and views of the miniature landscape and railway which is based upon tyical southwest Lancashire archiecture.
The site has a country scene, village and town and movement is generated by one of the largest 45mm garden railway systems in the UK
There's around 1.5 acres of beautiful minature landscape to explore with the whole family and is a great day out for all train enthusiasts. There are plenty of benches too if you need to sit down, and it's a great spot for a picnic.
The railway system is 500 meters in length and has been tastefully designed. On the site there is a waterway which connects two natural pongs and they've been home to many families of ducks in the past! There's wildlife all year round, including doves, pigeons, robins and more.
On the site, you'll find hot drinks, snacks and icecreams which can be purchased, but you are encourage to bring a picnic as there's lots of tables and chairs in the garden area! It's also a great spot for parents to relax as the little ones run around and watch their favourite locomotivate meander around the landscape.
