Isle of Man Steam Railway will take you on a journey through the countryside in the south of the Isle of Man. You'll admire the beautiful farmland and coastal views surrounding the railway line and you'll be able to visit the towns and villages along the way.
The steam railway is the longest narrow gauge steam line in Britain and still uses its original locomotives and carriages! The three foot narrow gauge railway was ipened in 1873 and visits lots of destination in the south of the island. The length of the current line is around 15 and a half miles with 11 stops and halts on the way.
You can visit the Port Erin Railway Museum too where you'll learn more about the history of the islands team railways over the last 140 years. You can also head to The Manx Museum, The Sea Terminal and much more along you way and it's a great opportunity to explore more of the local area.
If you wanted the VIP treatment, you can have some fine dining on the dining car too! It's only a handful of fine dining narraow gauge dining cars in the world and have a fantastic menu that uses the finest of Manx produce.
There's are seven return trains on a day through the countryside during the peak months of Juy and August.
Trains depart from Douglas Railway Station, Banks Hill located in the centre of Douglas. Trains also depart from Port Erin Railway Station located in the main village centre.
