Northwest River Park Chesapeake
Where are we going today?
Nature is so wonderful to spend time with the family in. Kids can run around, spot wildlife, breathe in that fresh air and have a great time!
That's why Northwest River Park and Campground is so popular with families! This 763 acre park in Chesapeake is filled with year round activities, and natural beauty.
The park itself has great adventures for those active families. You can spend time out on the water, enjoying hours of boating, or you can enjoy those stocked fishing lakes. A relaxing option for the day!
Those who love hitting the trails will love the hiking in the region. Kids can explore those crunching leaves, or try and spot the local wildlife.
And they are just the beginning! Northwest River Park and Campground has it's own putt putt course, which is great for that friendly competition with the family, or you can challenge each other to the horseshoes or the volleyball nets!
Kids - you won't want to miss the playgrounds either!
Don't forget about the campground! Open from April to November, the Northwest River Park Campground has 66 campsites, as well as 2 rental cabins. So if you want to extend your family day out to something a little more special - why not spend the weekend there!
A beautiful part of Virginia to explore, so why not grab those active kids and make a day of it....or more!

If i could give -5 stars, i would. Hiking trails are mud pits. It was not enjoyable trying to stay out of the worst of it. (Update: Three months later, trails aren't as muddy, but still a horrible hiking experience. Will not return to this waste of time park.)
Newly professional designed disc golf course. Nice layout. Only two really long holes to test your driver on. And the trees are hungry.

We found this place today and we are in love. It is absolutely gorgeous, full of trees, hiking trails, lots of fisherman, etc. There are canoes, paddle boats and bikes for rent during the summer, as well as mini-golf and a boat ramp. If you love the outdoors/adventure this is the place to be. It is definitely not your ordinary Chesapeake City Park - not by a long shot! We have lived here seven years and I'm so sad that we are just now finding this incredible jewel, but better late than never. =)
