Where are we going today?

There is something fun about having an indoor water park, because that means no matter what time of year you want to make a splash, you can! Rain, snow, or sun!

Grizzly Jacks Grand Bear Resort has an indoor waterpark - Grand Bear Falls Waterpark - which is 24,000 square feet of wild and wet family fun!. Free for guests of the resort, and day passes available for everyone else, there is a host of water fun to be had.

You can splash all day in the wave pool, which will make you feel like you're in the ocean (and you don't even have to leave the state!)

Those little kiddies will love playing in the play zones, or wading around in the tot pool with shallow water to keep them happy and safe.

For those wanting something a bit more thrilling, there are slides to be enjoyed, including body slides and tube slides. There is even a family slide where you can all enjoy the fun at once!

If you are feeling like you want to relax a little, the lazy river is perfect where you can just lie back in your inflatable, and make your way around the waterpark just taking it all in!

Parents, there is something for you with the hot tub area!

For those rumbling tummies there is a cafe too, where you can pick up drinks and snacks to keep you filled with energy before heading back into the water!

Don't forget to check out the Amusement Park too, with laser tag, zip lines and rock climbing wall - to name a few!

Thrills, splashes or relaxation, it's all there at Grizzly Jacks Grand Bear Resort waterpark!

The villa we stayed in was awesome, but the restaurant was horrid! I am a server and have been for years, so I may be a little more critical than most. Our server was by far the worst I've ever had. When I arrived, albeit 20 minutes after the rest of my party, she was just bringing their drinks. Then she just walked away before I could order. I then waited another 20 minutes for my drink. The food was mediocre at best. Then she never came back to run my card, I had to go to another girl by the computer. My entire party of 6 was unimpressed!...Read More

Not sure why people are reviewing this place poorly, cause it's awesome! We have a 6 year old, a 4 year old, & a 10 month old and they had a blast! The hotel and all the grounds are beautiful. Very reasonable prices. When you check out you get to still stay the entire day! We totally got our money's worth. Our kids loved the water park especially the wave pool. Me and baby enjoyed floating on the lazy river. And the indoor amusement park is amazing. ..they loved it. We just left that part after 5 hours straight and they still didn't want to...Read More

Grounds and building: They were very clean and well-kept.

Rooms: We had 3 additional families that came along with us. The rooms in the lodge were clean and good size. At least two of the rooms had no bathmat and no hand towels. There was only 4 bath towels and wash cloths for 5 people in our room. Pillows were horribly uncomfortable (for all the money that was spent on the resort, they should take a page from Comfort Inn...their pillows are top-notch and so comfortable). The bed sagged on one side.

Ok experience. Pool area is small, so is the arcade room. The claw games ripped you off. Halls were noisey, could hear everything. Staff was not very friendly, no one smiled. The best was the frozen latte.

If you DON'T have small children, don't waste your time. Entire place is made for young children 2-8yrs. My husband and I were looking for a nice resort close to starved rock where we could get a good nights sleep. The room service food was terrible. The ladies behind the counter had to refer every question I asked to the manager. The bed was so old I expected it to fall apart. The sides and springs were so smashed down the second you lay down you are rolling off the side of the bed. The shower was just atrocious. The shower head sprayed...Read More

Meeting Space: When I originally booked the rooms, I spoke to someone in sales about having a meeting room. There was no money discussed and the person said there was plenty space: It seemed like it was complimentary. To my surprise, I called a week before to confirm everything and we had no meeting room to meet in and then I was told that we would have to pay $250 per day and WiFi coverage would be spotty. Then I was told that, had I called early enough, we could have had a meeting room for $100 per day. I called 3 months in advance...not sure how far in advance I need to call.
Management: I called to speak to the hotel manager about the meeting room issue. The manager was not available, so I was transferred to the voice mail. I left a message asking the manager to call me back. I received no return phone call.
Front Desk: When we checked in, there were 3 people up front. One was working on the computer, while the other two were discussing something. The one on the computer asked us to wait while she finished her task. After waiting, I had to initiate the check-in. Later on two of the people in the group, went to the front desk to ask about the game cards we were given. It appears that the front desk staff does not know about how the tokens/cash cards work. It was not just one person, but both of the front desk staff at the time
Water Park/Amusement Park: Waterpark was fun, as was the amusement park. Our 12, 11, and 9 year-old kids love it and had a great time. The only “ride” in amusement park that was not open was the bungee jump. Hot tub was no open the first day, but was otherwise open. I did have one concern: Other than the life guard at the top of the stairs to the water slide, there was only 2 life guards covering the entire water park at a time...one was by the bottom exit to the water slide/one side of the lazy river while the other was always focused on the pool/wave pool. You need at least 1-2 others additional lifeguards.
Breakfast: It was like a cattle call the first day (complimentary buffet during the week). The line was long and there was only one side of the food table we could use. The assortment was lacking and there was food missing that had not been replenished (I should not have to go get someone since the line was long). The table ran out of silverware and I had to go get someone to replenish...should not happen. The second morning was paid (unlike the first morning, which was complimentary). The food was somewhat better and was stocked better...also were able to serve on both sides of the food table. Food was okay as a whole, but not anything to write home about. Eggs with peppers were good.

We likely would come again, but will check out other places first. I am not a complainer, but want others to get an idea of what they are getting if they come.

The shower head sprayed everywhere but in the shower and barely let out any water. The balcony was pleasant but would be better if they stuck a couple chairs out there. The t.v was incredibly old with about 15 channels and the remote was duck taped together. The floor made my bare feet black making me have to constantly wear my shoes. The food in the Amusement park was the same as the room service food just warmer. Service there was o.k. once you could finally catch someone's attention. There were 4 other people at the restaurant when we arrived. It took the 3 bartenders more than 5 minutes to ask us what we wanted to order. Than he was so disorganized it was ridiculous! We couldn't sleep past 6 am since many people's unsupervised children were constantly running and screaming up and down the halls. Overall our stay was terrible. Unless you have misbehaved children you like to let run wild find somewhere else to stay its a complete waste of money. Next time I will stay at the Comfort Inn at least there you get good service and are not spending $200+ a night. Live and learn I guess.
