DCM annually serves more than 21,000 elementary students. Through our Learning Labs and field trip programs, DCM is changing how students learn and affecting how teachers teach. With DCM-led open-ended classroom explorations, children who have not succeeded with more traditional instruction often excel in the Learning Labs, many for the first time. Over 40 school districts and private schools count on DCM to help meet Illinois Science, Technology, Engineering and Math curriculum standards. Many of these schools consider the Museum a vital part of their curriculum.
