Lindisfarne Castle has crisp sea air, seal calls through the fog, wide expanses of beach, dramatic sunsets, and abundant nature! So what are you waiting for? Head on down for stunning views and a memorable day with the family.
Outside of the castle, there is a lot to explore. The castle crag is covered in wildflowers and the Gertrude Jekyll garden is a small yet perfectly formed jewel in the landscape, ablaze with summer colour and fragrance. Wander across the field and take a seat amongst the flowers; listen to the sounds of the sea, the buzzing bees and perhaps the ghostly sound of the seals on Ross Sands 'singing' drifting over the island.
Lindisfarne Castle was visited by Artist Paul Rooney who installed a very special sound piece - Song (After Nature) - which links the past, present and future, at the castle. Paul's work draws inspiration from renowed cellist and visitor to the castle, Madame Suggia, and the natural sounds of Holy Island. This is enhanced by the elemental nature of the castle and the sea and landscape that surrounds it.
View the sound piece, skim a stone, fly a kite, and watch the birds - there's plenty to see and learn at Lindisfarne.
Keep straight on the A1, continue onto Lindisfarne Causeway, and you're close by.
