Dewa Roman Experience

About this activity

Dewa Roman Experience is an interactive showcase of Roman Chester, designed for all ages and family members. You'll here stories from across the empire, genuine artefacts and displays that will take you on a journey through roman history. 

You'll start in the roman gallery where you'll be told of the dangers as you near the edge of the known world. You'll see reconstructed granary, barracks, bath-house and market stalls. You'll experience the sights, sounds and smells of Roman Britain. 

You'll visit the genuine Roman, Saxon and Medieval remains buried beneath Chester and you'll a range of artefacts from both Chester and the wider Roman Empire. 

For the kids, the centre is very hands on, with rooms that encourage the little ones to interact. Try on the roman armour, fire a catapult and create a mosaic and immerse yourself in roman history. There's also the chance to handle ancient pottery and bones on display too. 

You'll learn all about the housing, soldiers, hygiene and food through the exhibitions and find out about the famous gladiators that fought here too.
